Building 'Speed Strength' Is the Next Progression Towards Faster Clubhead Speeds
Most golfers are aware that they need strength and flexibility in order to perform a full swing with some level of consistency. Without these elements, golfers place themselves at a huge disadvantage compared to other golfers and even compared to their own potential.Once basic levels of strength are mastered, it is time to move to the next level-moving light to medium weights at a greater speed. The notion behind building better ‘speed strength’ is to produce more force or power in the shortest period of time. And, let’s face it, how much time do we have to actually swing the club and maximize our power potential?
Using the Speed and Strength Golf Fitness Program you will perform 4 sets of each exercise. The first two sets with be performed at an even and steady pace. (count ‘one-one thousand one’ to lift up and ‘one-one thousand-two’ to lift back down). The last two remaining sets will be performed with quick speed both up and down. Think explosive power as you take the weight away from your body and then bringing it back down.
It is important to monitor your posture throughout each exercise closely. Make sure you never break good form and discontinue any exercises that don’t allow you to complete your set with that same posture.
Perform this routine up to 4 times weekly, always with 1 day of rest in between workouts, for best results. Start looking forward to more distance on every shot.
